Fallout 4 Continue Working With Father

Spoke with Shaun. Father appeared and issued shut-down command; nothing happens to Shaun and I can't interact with either Shaun or Father, both are "busy".
Started Institutionalized from multiple earlier saves. Started it as an agent of BOS and the Railroad. Ultimately used the console: "setstage MQ207 150" to move to meeting the directors.
Would like to have the conversation with Father on next playthrough; don't know if I have missed anything vital to continuance of quest or game. Any help would be much appreciated

I had this problem recently. Reloading earlier saves didn't do any good. Finally I sat in a nearby chair and waited 24 hours. Walked up to Father and he started the dialogue. I don't know if it was necessary to wait that long but it worked.

Thanks for the suggestion. I try it out if it happens on my next playthrough.

I just got this bug in my latest playthrough, alas the "sit and wait 24h" didn't work and I have no idea why.

I had that bug as well, and there are more than a few other folks who have run into it as well. One solution I did find was make sure you are not wearing power armor or anything that alters your vision, or marks targets for you. I had on a pair of glasses that had the recon effect on them, and apparently that might trigger the bug.

I had the same problem, but solved it with console commands. Now I have the same father not talking problem in next quest underground undercover. I'm playing for 8 months now and I want to finish the game finally and it's very frustrating.
I've done all I can with Z1-14, talked to all leaders, got teleport option, even gave Virgil his serum. Now my quest data says continue working with father and first institute quest should start, I think Synth Retention. But quest doesn't start and I can't start conversations with father, which should start institute quests. I looked everywhere for answer, but no success.
Can anyone help?

Use console mode. Disable the door to Shaun. Disable Shaun. Talk to father.

Mod user here, ran into the same problem, read everything here, none of it worked, so I disabled scrap everything, started the game and presto, no more problem. The only reason I had thought of trying that is because when I was building at the Boston Airport, I accidentally scrapped the build area floor, lol, and had to load another save, but I disabled it before I started over. Got up today to play and enabled it...
Anyway, I hope this works for you guys. Cheers.
